Worship Wednesday- Praise the LORD!!!

I want to thank the LORD for HIS HAND OF SAVING GRACE!!! On Sunday morning, the Lord swept in and swept our church off its feet. Almost 40 people came to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. Many had believed in Jesus ( Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. James 2:19), but never believed ON HIM! (more have come to know Him this week as well)

What is so wonderful for our family is that our girls Am & Sis were in that number! Sis had been struggling for a couple months over her salvation. She was 11 and remembered some, but just didn't have complete peace over it. She looked back at me and I knew she had to get to that altar to make things RIGHT...... Unknown to us, Am had been questioning her's for a time. She came down the aisle, headed straight for her Daddy, and couldn't get to the altar quick enough.

I cannot explain the service, nor will I even try. All I know is the SUPERNATURAL HAND OF GOD was on WGBC that morning. I am sharing the service with you. You can make your own conclusions of what happened by watching the service. I will tell you that it is long...almost 2 hours. (although, it didn't feel long at all!) (Sis speaks at about 1:05 - and Am goes down about 1:35) FYI - Am was in the back nursery with Baby M....she could hear the service from the speaker, but she couldn't see what was going on in the service.....all she knew was she had to get to that altar.

Have you ever struggled with your salvation? Have you ever trusted the Lord as your personal Savior? Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? Please take the time to watch this service if you don't KNOW HIM ....maybe you will once this service is over. Praying God will bless you through watching this. GOD IS ALIVE and HE is STILL in the MIRACLE BUSINESS!!!

PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Worship Wednesday - Under His Wings

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust:
his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Psalm 91: 4

Father...you know my heart today. Our family has much to pray about this week. I am so thankful that you have us covered and under your wings we will trust your promises. I want to thank you for loving me, thank you for holding us close and for giving us victory in Jesus!!

Please pray.....
B's test results
Am's surgery
My Brother & his family in Venezuela
Sis & school
My mother
and many other unspoken that the Lord knows all about.
Thanks :)

(Visit Raising Future Esthers for the final days of God's love devotions - missed the rest of the month?? Go back to Feb 1 and begin - you will be blessed)

I Hear an Echo!

I have something that has been "echoing" in my head, in my heart, in my everyday.......

In a sermon a while back an evangelist, David Ring (has cerebral palsy), used a very compelling example in his message. He asked for help for a drink of water, he asked 7 times before anyone came to help him get a drink of water. I totally blew it. I never thought to get up to help him. I did think maybe my son (who was sitting on the front row), or maybe my husband, or, someone. But, when he began asking a few people, "Why didn't you help me?" And he told them, "You blew it!"

How many times have I seen someone that needed help?
How many times have I thought, "someone should do something"?
How many times have I questioned why a thought or a burden is in my heart?

Why didn't I? Or Why don't I?

More times than not, I blew it... or better yet still blowing it.

In another message by Pastor Todd Good not long after that he said, "If not you, then who? If not now, when? Talk about a statement.... I don't have a clue what he said after that....because that stuck in my head..... I wrote it down over & over.

How many times has God put something in my heart?
How many opportunities have I missed?
How many times did I think that's someone else's job?
I sometimes think:
  • I could never do that....someone else would be better at that.
  • I am scared.
  • That is out of my comfort zone.
  • I don't think God means me.
  • What will people say?
  • I have enough to do. (just being honest here)
When I laid my head down that night, I accepted the fact that I had to step up to a situation that has been haunting me for over two years. I have been praying about this for a long time and questioning God as to why it was taking so long...... Over the years, I have learned to pray over things instead of jumping headfirst into it... of course that is what we should do. I am afraid that I have taken that to the extreme at times.

After putting some thought and prayer to that thought. Many times I have prayed that He would use me, place opportunities in my path, to show me my purpose.....and then and there He showed me some things that He had placed before me. But, it wasn't something that I wanted to do, or it was inconvenient, maybe it came with sacrifice, or it was too hard,  scary, embarrassing, etc. Guilty of not doing what God placed in my path, who knows the number of blessings that I have missed. I have blown it more times than I even know!!

OUCH! a hard pill to swallow.

Situation after situation over the past few months the words "If not you, then who?" have echoed in my head. I have shared it with a couple people, even when they questioned what  they should be doing. And those words come up A LOT!!

Just last night I got a text that said, "Go NOW and watch" (the following video) pay attention to the chorus lyrics

Needless to say... there is an echo and now I believe it is on REPEAT!!

What have you been praying so hard about?? Do you think that God will change His mind about what He is showing you? Would you stop and pray about helping a child across the street? Would you pray about helping a single mother that needs food for her children right now? If someone has fallen would you help them up, or would you stop and pray about it, or see if someone else helps? Sometimes God places those opportunities at that very moment. The moment that we have prayed for.

Each of us has a purpose, and maybe you are waiting on God to show you the BIG GRAND PURPOSE you think He has for your life. While you are waiting on that just ......

DO SOMETHING!!

If not you, then who?

Jesus Our HOPE

In my previous post, I wrote

"HOPE that was born on Christmas. In Christ's birth God provided HOPE. Hope to a lost and dying world."

Those words ring even more true today.

I haven't had words to write about the events of last Friday. Nor do I have them today. Many bloggers, did a day of silence, many shared there heart, many focused on the children, and many shared there HOPE in Christ. And I can only write of what I do know.....

Jesus was born to die for me.

Jesus is coming back to get me one day.

He will never leave me nor forsake me.

His promises are true.

He heals the brokenhearted.

He loves me with an everlasting love.

I could write more about Him, because I know He has so much more for me. I have been reminded that I am to focus on the Lord and His promises and not on the evil in this world.

My hope is in the Lord!

I wait for the LORD, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. Psalm 130:5

The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. Lamentations 3:24

Be not a terror unto me: thou art my hope in the day of evil. Jeremiah 17:17

I have seen the poem below a couple times. It warms my heart, renews and reinforces my hope. Hug your loved ones a little tighter and a little longer. May our Heavenly Father pour out His grace and mercy.

20 Beautiful Children
‘twas 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air...

they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house."
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and I heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

Content ~ Fighting the Battle

We are right in the middle of the Bible study - No Other Gods  by Kelly Minter. God is showing me things throughout my day that are little "gods" in my life. One thing that I loved about our discussion on Monday, was battling lies with scripture. The enemy has placed so many lies and untruths in my life and I tend to dwell in the depth of a pit he wants me to wallow in.

I want truth, don't you?

And why wouldn't we want truth?

Truth is so much better than the deceitful ways of our enemy. He is at every turn, do not fall for the mess he throws at you. God has warned us in His word that the enemy is seeking to devour us, and our Heavenly Father has given us truth that He will never leave us, we are so much more than satan says we are. In order to battle the enemy we must STAND on HIS WORD and proclaim truth! Put on our whole armor every day, and when we slip out of part of our armor, the enemy will attack when we least expect it.

On Monday morning, I was reading a devotion, and of course God placed it to confirm our lesson from Sunday School Sunday morning.  A side note read:

"This is war. You are right in the middle of it. And choosing sides is going to be an everyday battle."

Hmm, isn't this the truth??!!

In my yearlong quest to be content. God has shown me so much. There are things that He has shown me, that I seem to know.... yet, I struggle in some of those very areas. Some of them I have seemed to struggle for years in the same place. Other times, I thought I had gotten victory over them, only for them to resurface and then guilt sets in. Another part of being content, is realizing that I must remain prepared for battle. I must make choices based on God's Word. I must live my life as unto the Lord. I cannot fall for the enemy's attempts to choke me. I must be armed with God's Word at every turn. May I use His Word to encourage and help point others to Him. I know that God has more to show me about this Word He has given me for 2012, and as I learn what He wants may I use it for His Glory!!

In some recent events, I have seen just how evil the enemy is, tearing families apart, filling minds with lies and deceit, corrupting lives at every turn and robbing us of more than we even know. As Christians we must know that we have the power within us to fight! And I know when I can't fight, the LORD will fight for me!!

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and
having on the breastplate of righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to
quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Ephesians 6:10-18

Do Not Worry About Tomorrow!!

(Picture found on Pinterest from Etsy)

With all that life brings I tend to worry about a lot of stuff.  My husband's favorite words of (ahem!) comfort to me are, "Oh Ye of little faith!" (I know, sooo very comforting!)  And he says that I even worry about not worrying. Does that make sense to you??? Because it certainly doesn't to me??? :) When things seem to be getting to me, or an overwhelming sense of anxiety grips me, I am learning to go to God's word, more and more. It seems that the Lord keeps putting messages, lessons, devotions, encouragement from others, to remind me that He is with me and to Fear Not! Last night the reminder is that He is with me no matter what and because when Jesus said, "it is finished" the veil was torn and immediately I then had access to the throne of the most HIGH! I can commune with him anytime, anywhere and He is listening. Co-workers may think I have lost what little mind I have left, but that's ok. I am clinging to the promises in His WORD today.

Hasta Pronto!

No, I am not taking Spanish...

Nor, am I closing my blog.....

And no, I am not taking a trip,

or a vacation from blogging. (I know, I post so sporadically who would know the difference?)

Ready to roll... and FLY!!!
Today I find it a little hard to swallow, my eyes seem to leak when I think about it, (do you know its hard to type and wipe tears at the same time??) my thoughts and prayers today are with my brother and his family. If you don't know what is going on with them read here and here. And today is the day they leave for Language school in Costa Rica.  As a matter of fact Charity posted on Facebook a few minutes ago that they are on their way to the airport.... :( As a matter of fact as I finished typing this they are at the airport!!

Scott called me last night to to talk to me and thank God I was able to hold myself together! I just wanted to give him to give me another big hug!!  On a post from Sunday, he said this is not goodbye, just hasta pronto!!! Which means they will see us soon! They will be there for a year, and then they will go to Venezuela for three years.

Friends praying as they leave! It looks like a heart!! Isn't that the sweetest??!!!

WOW... this has been a long journey for them in preparation for this day. I am so proud of him. And their excitement and happiness is so contagious! They have more faith than anyone could possibly explain. To read their mission story go here (talk about encouraging!! )

At the airport!

I can remember when this strong, Godly father of 5 was just a baby. He learned to say, "Sissy" and I can remember when he walked right into my arms. He is 10 years younger than I am, so I was probably more of a "momma" figure than a sister. I can remember when he got his license, when he got married, when he moved to Raleigh. He was always so special in my eyes & my heart! He is amazing, and God has great plans for him. So excited to hear how God uses them!!

10 footlockers, 7 suitcases, 7 carry-ons and 7 backpacks!

 Dear Scott,

No words can express my love for you and your faithful heart. You inspire me in ways you cannot understand. I know that there have been miles between us, and there will even be more now, but you will forever remain close to my heart. I love you, and I am so thankful that you are my brother, not only by blood, but in Christ as well. Stand firm in your calling. Let not the enemy defeat you.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Matthew 28:19

Take care of you sweet family, give them all hugs and kisses for me. I cannot wait to see blog posts and Facebook posts (if even possible) and we look forward to Skype dates, lol! I pray that when you return for the short time before you leave for Venezuela, that my house can be really loud again!!

Love you!!

Hasta Pronto Hermanito!!

Bittersweet Times

A few months ago, you may recall reading this, about my brother & his family being called as missionaries to Venezuela. The time is really close now, and God has put everything into place for them. They are very excited to take this next step in their journey. They will leave in September for Costa Rica for a year of language school.

Family and friends met for a Mission Celebration for them yesterday. There was lots of love, hugs, laughter and tears. I managed to hold mine back. How? God's grace, I suppose. But, as I write this my eyes seem to be leaking a bit. Odd??

I guess the reality of it all is hitting me. Some of us talked yesterday that part of us didn't want them to go, which of course is the selfish part. My dad said, "I am not selfish, I just don't want them to go." Hmmm, Dad really?? He is so matter of fact. And then there is the part that is so very proud of them and their obedience to the Lord. Some can't imagine why and how they can do this. I can..... their hearts are soooo big and they have such faith, God has brought them this far, and ONLY God can do what has been done in their lives.

What is so amazing to me, is their children are so excited for this as well. God has something wonderful in store for this family. I am so blessed to see what God can do within a family. Although, I think I will have to send care packages to my nieces and nephews, because some of the food my brother was talking about.... well, all I can say is peanut butter crackers, please!!

If you don't mind add the Smith Family to your prayers as they follow the Lord. If you have a chance stop by their blog  The Venezuelan Voice  and leave them a note of encouragement and maybe even a donation of support, I know they would appreciate it. I know they would love your prayers as take the next step in their journey.

Paw Bob with his Grandbabies  - (3 and the great are missing)

Some really "tuff" kids!!

Isn't she the cutest??

Prepare My Heart

This is my prayer this week. This weekend we are going on a Youth Mission trip to West Virginia. I am so excited that I will be serving along side my husband, and my teenagers, Sis & Bub. In preparation for the trip, we have planned the weekend, made lists of what to bring or not to bring, planned menus and shopping lists and gathered donations. Sometimes I get so caught up in the details of preparing for a lesson, a retreat, camp, etc.,  that I forget that GOD has it all under control. I need not worry or fret or get uptight about any of it. So, knowing that a lot is coming up in the next few weeks (we have our kids camp in less than a month!!!) I am doing my best to give it all over to the Lord, and trying to stay focused on HIM and not the stuff.

In our pastor's message on Sunday, I was very convicted over the thought that I maybe grieving the Holy Spirit and even quenching the Holy Spirit with my busyness and my worries. It was the perfect sermon for me. If it wasn't for anyone else, it was for me!!

I need to prepare my heart more than I need to pack my toothbrush!! This week I came back to work (from a week off) doing my best to be positive, giving things over to the Lord and focusing on Him instead of circumstances (and a full desk!). I want this weekend to be for the Lord. I want to be used by Him. I am praying that my heart will be clean before Him, so that nothing stands in the way of sharing the Love of Christ to the children and families that we will come in contact with. May we see them as God does. Please pray for our Mission Team and that each of hearts are prepared to do what God wants. May God use our youth to help change a person's life for eternity!!

Father, give me your eyes, give me your love for humanity, give me your arms for the broken hearted.  Help me to stay focused on you. Prepare hearts and minds for this weekend. Show our youth your glory! Allow them to let you work through them. May the step out of their comfort zones and do your will. Cover us with a hedge of  protection as we travel. Bring revival to this area of WV. Prepare the children's hearts to receive your love for them. I lift up Brother Harold as he does your will in JenkinJones, WV.

In Christ,

The One Who Calms Part 2

After my last post, I got some comments as well as some emails about how they really needed that post. As well as some that teetered on the edge of "you know that God will take care of the situation" "Oh, ye of little faith". I will be honest here, I almost didn't post it after I wrote it.

Why? Because I knew that it was for me. I am such a worrier, and get anxious about the craziest things. And sometimes, out of nowhere a spirit of fear and anxiousness comes over me and sends me into a tailspin. So, when I put down what is on my mind, and what God is showing me over a certain situation, I sometimes have a hard time sharing, because it makes me vulnerable and that's a whole other issue.

There are many of you that never happens to, but the definition fits me to a tee...

Vulnerable: open to moral attack, criticism, temptation

Does anyone get my drift?? If you do, you understand. If you don't, you probably won't understand.

I know that I should share what God has done for me and is teaching me. It is just hard for me sometimes. For those of you that commented, emailed or messaged me on that post, thank you. Some of you shared your burdens with me and I appreciate the opportunity to pray for you. Another way to take my eyes off my circumstances and to lift others burdens to the Lord!

The words in the song below spoke to me the morning after I posted..... Once again a reminder that when I am faced with uncertainty and I feel as if I am being tossed to & fro....He'll Hold Me. I am so thankful for HIS PROMISES!! He will never leave me nor forsake me!! I am His and He is mine!

The One Who Calms

Then in their trouble they called to the Lord,
and he saved them from their distress.
 He calmed the raging storm,
  and the waves became quiet.

They were glad because of the calm,
and he brought them safe to the port they wanted.
Psalm 107:28-30(GNT)

In a devotional I read this morning, the underlined words of this Psalm spoke to me.

As life tosses you to and fro, sometimes its a ripple just rocking you gently, sometimes its a scattered thunderstorm that seems to be hit and miss, and then others its the full-fledged knock you off your feet, waves are crashing, kind of storm. With the rains pelting down, the winds blowing at top speeds, the lightning striking at ever turn, and the thunder so loud you can't hear yourself think, you find yourself in a place where your heart is racing, you can't seem to breathe and you feel as if you are all alone with no where to turn.

When in the midst of the storm, all you see is the storm in front of you. You can't see past it, you can only see where you have been and where you are, but what's in front of you? No one knows.  Unfortunately, this is when your eyes are off the Lord and on your circumstances. But, like the words of the above Psalm, you turn to the Lord and cry out to Him. In your fear, your pain, your aching, and in your distress, He hears your cry, and He will calm that raging storm in your heart and your mind. Oh, the winds may still be blowing, waves may be crashing, and the rain may still be coming down, but your Heavenly Father has calmed the storm within you. He is the ONE who can and who WILL calm your storms!

CONTENT: An Opportunity

Wow... its been over a week since I posted! Where does time go?? The last few weeks of school are busy, along with baseball, baseball, and, well, it leaves a Momma ready to lay her head down at night. By the time I slow down at night, I am a vegetable, so there is no way that I could possible put ONE thought together much less a post!

With the word CONTENT that God gave me for this year, I have mentioned that in my quest to be content in my life, I do not want to be content in my walk with the Lord. This past weekend God opened a door for me to walk closer to Him. We had the opportunity to go on a Youth Retreat. I have to admit that I was thinking, whew, can I really handle this... along with everything else that is going on? I chose to STOP that train of thought and began asking ....

  • God to prepare my heart for the weekend.
  • What He wanted for the Youth?
  • What could I do to point them to Him?
  • What He wanted me to bring back home with me?
  • Asking for Him to change me! I wanted to be different than when I left!

Sometimes I do things, and I fail to ask Him what He wants. 'Cause I am a little, a lot wrapped up in ME. And I did chose to look to Him, read His Word, really listen to the words in praise music as well as did my best to stay focused on Him. Oh, the enemy was at work (isn't he always when you are doing something the Lord wants of you??) yet, I prayed that God would just fill me so there was no room for anything else.

I have to say the weekend was AWESOME... God worked in so many ways. I love, love how He puts things together, in His Way and His Time. HIS WAYS ARE HIGHER!!

Some things that I brought back and am clinging to and pondering on....(yeah, I know that this was a Youth Retreat, but I can say that it wasn't just for the Youth!) I could go on and on about every one of the following thoughts...but, I don't have time to write a book so.... you can dig in for yourself!
  • God created ALL things..... did you get the ALL part??
  • God has a design for everyone..... He has one for ME!!! & you TOO!!!
  • The WORD was made flesh and HE is the GREAT I AM!
  • Who is Jesus to me? ( I could go on & on!)
  • I want to be like the Centurion and come to Him submissively, humbly, trusting, faithfully, & confidently (that one is tough for me).
  • Learn to take orders before I can give orders. (ouch!)
  • But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.Hebrews 11:6 ~ I need this reminder numerous times daily!
  • It matters how I pray, worship, love, live.......IT ALL MATTERS!
  • He's Alive! Worship HIM! HE IS WORTHY!!!!

Thank you Lord for giving me the opportunity to meet with you this past weekend, for allowing me to spend time with the youth, the counselors, our Youth Pastor and his wife. Thank you for the burden you have placed in their hearts. Lord, give them strength, liberty, mercy and grace to minister to this group of youth! Lord, thank you for the tender hearts, may you work in them so that they would desire to have a deeper relationship with you. Thank you for opening my eyes to the needs of some of those youth. Help me to point others to your Son in all I say and do!

So Proud of My Brother!

I have a younger brother that I need to brag on a little bit. I don't get to see him very much, and those times will be even less & less by summer's end.

He and his family live a few hours away, and we are lucky that they can make time for us with the rest of their family when they come our way. He & his wife have five children and when they come for a visit, our crowd gets even louder if that's possible. If you even hear a distant rumble, its probably us getting together.

Part of the reason that I am so proud of him, is that he and his family have accepted a call from God to be missionaries in Venezuela. This has been a long time coming. They have spent a lot of time and energy sharing their passion for what God has brought to their lives. I can remember when he was just a teenager, so much wiser than his much older sister, he told me that God had told him he was going to be a missionary one day. I am not even sure if he remembers that conversation. But, I do. Part of me was thinking, how could he know that at such a young age? You have to know, at that time in my life, I was saved, and I had drifted very far from the Lord for a long time, yet, I had finally realized that what was missing in my life was a relationship with my Heavenly Father. I thought, one day, maybe I will be close enough to the Lord for him to speak to me and to use me. Through the years, I have watched him grow and serve the Lord, his wife and his children in so many ways. He has said so many times in his life, "I want what God wants for me".

They have such a desire to be in Venezuela that I know their hearts are already there. In the next few months they will take the next step in this journey. Makes part of me sad, but makes me bubble up with pride to see such love and obedience to the Lord. Many people may not understand the whys and the whats of such a calling. I just know that FAITH is the answer to all of those questions. They have put their lives in the Lord's hands and they trust him with ALL that's to come. HE IS ALL THEY NEED!

There are lots of details about how they were called and where they are now in this process. They have a blog, and she updates it as she has time. (not sure how she does it, with all the itinerating -traveling and raising support-, homeschooling the children ages 5-14, preparing to leave the states and dealing with life in general.) Check out their Mission Story at  The Venezuelan Voice as well as her latest blog post 16 Years of Togetherness.

If you don't mind add the Smith Family to your prayers as they follow the Lord. If you have a chance stop by their blog and leave them a note of encouragement and maybe even a donation of support, I know they would appreciate it. I know they would love your prayers as they come to the final months of preparation.

Love you Scott, Charity and my wonderful nieces and nephews!!! I am soooo very proud of you and what you are doing!!!
